About Us

The Fare Shop is a food poverty charity, based at Crossacres Resource Centre in Wythenshawe, South Manchester, providing surplus food from supermarkets to individuals and families in the local community, to relieve urgent needs and prevent hunger.

The Fare Shop is registered with the Charity Commission (No: 1167051) and is organised by three trustees with the help of volunteers.

We are very aware that far too many people in today’s society are unable to adequately feed themselves and their families, a situation which is unacceptable. This emergency has continued to get worse with the number of people in serious food poverty increasing rapidly, and with many suffering health and mental problems because of the impact of ever-increasing prices.

At Fare Shop, we are passionate about working for the benefit of the local community by providing nutritious food, essential groceries and basic household items at highly reduced prices. We are a not-for-profit charity.
